| F1 Sail Pro Tour Race Format |
“Close, aggressive racing in high winds”
- 26 races, 7 countries
- Professional crews
- All aspects of each event professionally managed
Each race will be a 30-minute 2 lap sprint staged on a triangular grand prix course
The number of boats allowed to compete in the series will be limited to a maximum of 15.
Each boat will come with two rig configurations. Race management will decide on the choice of rig prior to each race.
Racing will be subject to weather checks. The series will have a window of up to 7 days to wait for the right conditions. Winds of 15-knots or more will be targeted. Up to 3 races maybe staged in one day if conditions are favourable.
To encourage more lead changes the boats will be given two marker (turning bouys) options.
Points will be accumulated from one race to the next with the title based on overall points. There will be individual race winners, 7 location winners & the Pro Tour Champion based on overall points. Cash & contra prizes will be presented to winning crews.
Race marshals will be stationed on the course with decisions & penalties made on the spot. The marshals will be wired for sound so we can hear the calls live on air.
F1 Sail will transport boats & equipment from one race to the next. Six boats can be placed into one shipping container.
One of the reasons for the rapid growth & success of Formula One Motor Racing has been the total management of every facet of the event, from concept to screen. Similarly F1 Sail will offer total event management. This means not just a highly professional and successful event, but a cost effective operation. Just like Formula One transports cars and equipment together from venue to venue, F1 Sail will move skiffs & equipment together from venue to venue.
